Label – Quality & Trust

Each CUMI grinding wheel that passes the CXS process will be labelled with this.

About CXS

Every year, many accidents happen due to the use of abrasive products and grinding tools, especially when customers choose low-quality, cheap options that put their safety at risk. To keep users safe, CUMI is committed to making high-quality abrasive products using strict quality control measures. All our products are manufactured and tested according to approved safety standards, as well as CUMI’s own internal safety standards, which include tolerances up to 75% tighter than the EN standards to ensure superior safety and reliability.

CUMI’s internal safety standards are designed to provide extra protection for users by going beyond industry requirements to ensure safety and trust. These standards ensure consistent product quality, they also reflect our real-world experience and understanding of customer needs. Most importantly, it demonstrates CUMI’s strong commitment to safety and reliability. By following safety and testing standards, we make sure our abrasive products are not just good, but among the safest and most reliable available in the market.

Testing Methods / Protocols

General Inspection

Weight, Outer Dia, Inner Dia to ensure the Density of the wheel. Young’s Modulus (YM) value: It’s verified with the defined set of values to ensure there exists no cracks inside the wheels. Metal detector is used to ensure that all the Wheels have a ring inside which is kept during the molding process

Side Runout Test

This test measures the lateral deviation or wobble on the grinding wheel’s side surface during rotation, ensuring stability and precision in operation. CUMI maintains a tolerance that is 75% tighter than the standard specification, ensuring significantly reduced side-to-side movement for improved performance and safety.

Out of Balance Test

Each grinding wheel undergoes individual inspection to ensure proper balance and performance. CUMI applies tighter diameter tolerances than EN standards. These stricter controls help guarantee well-balanced wheels, promoting uniform grinding performance and consistent wear characteristics.

Periphery Runout Test

This test measures irregularities on the outer circumference of the grinding wheel to ensure smooth and even rotation during operation. By detecting any unevenness, it helps maintain consistent performance and reduces vibration for safer, more precise grinding.

Ring Test

The Ring Test needs to be carried out with a light, non-metallic implement material on the Wheel at periphery and 45 degrees to either side of the wheel’s vertical centerline and ensure it gives a clear bell sound to ensure that the wheel has no cracks on it.

Speed Test

The wheel is made to run at a speed of 1.5 times the specified RPM to verify whether the wheel could be able to withstand the rotation.

Hardness Test

Determines the wheel’s resistance to wear and load, helping select the right wheel for specific materials and for right application.

Bursting Test

To test at what speed the wheel bursts while speed goes on increasing, this will clearly show the strength & Durability of wheel during abuse also.

Iron Particle Test

Identifies ferrous contamination in the wheel, which can impact non-ferrous grinding and lead to sparking.

Thickness Test

CUMI operates with a thickness tolerance that is 30% tighter than the EN standard specification.

Profile Test

Ensures the grinding wheel maintains its designed contour and edge shape for precise applications.

Your Safety – Safe Handling of Abrasive Grinding Wheel

Abrasive products improperly used can be hazardous.

  • Always follow the instructions provided by the abrasive product and machine supplier.
  • Ensure that the abrasive product is suitable for its intended use. Examine all abrasive products for damage or defects before mounting.
  • Follow the correct procedures for handling and storage of abrasive products.

Be aware of the hazards likely during the use of abrasive products and observe the recommended precautions to be taken:

  • Bodily contact with the abrasive product at operating speed
  • Injury resulting from product breakage during use
  • Grinding debris, sparks, fumes, and dust generated by the grinding process
  • Noise
  • Vibration

Injury Caused by Product Breakage

  • Always handle abrasives with great care; they are easily damaged. Examine all products for defects or damage before use.
  • Store abrasives in dry, frost-free conditions, avoiding wide temperature variations. Ensure they are properly protected and supported to prevent damage and distortion.
  • Never use an abrasive product beyond its expiry date where marked.
  • Ensure that the correct abrasive product is selected. Never use a product if it cannot be properly identified.
  • Follow the instructions provided by the abrasive product or machine supplier when mounting abrasive products. Observe any mounting indications marked on the product, such as direction of run or mounting position.
  • Never force the abrasive product onto the mounting fixture or modify it to fit.
  • Never exceed the maximum operating speed where specified.
  • Check that the correct mounting devices are used and that they are undistorted, clean, and free from burrs.
  • Use mounting blotters where supplied.
  • Do not tighten the mounting device excessively.
  • After mounting or remounting an abrasive product, conduct the trial run at operating speed with the guard in place for at least 30 seconds, standing clear of the machine before use.
  • Ensure that the workpiece is secure and properly supported. Ensure that work rests are properly adjusted and secure.
  • Never start the machine with the workpiece in contact with an abrasive product.
  • Never apply excessive force or shock to the abrasive product or let it overheat.
  • Do not grind on the part of the product that is not designed for the operation.
  • Let the abrasive product stop naturally, not by applying pressure to its surface.
