Formed in 1952, the company is known internationally for its innovations in the field of extra-thin cutting discs. Rhodius distributes its wide range of products via its network of specialist dealers. Key groups of users are those in manufacturing and the skilled trades – and metal construction in particular. Some years ago, Rhodius established a clear digital strategy to offer its customers an optimum level of service. Rhodius ships its products to more than 100 countries and its export ratio is 70%. The specialist toolmaker employs around 313 people worldwide.
Their products include extra-thin cutting discs, freehand cutting discs, cutting discs for stationary machines, grinding discs, flap discs, coated abrasives, polishing tools, carbide burrs and diamond tools.

Sterling Abrasives Limited (SAL) is a 55-year-old company promoted by Nitin S Parikh to manufacture a wide range of bonded abrasives products. Over the last 28 years, SAL has been associated with Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI) as its subsidiary. SAL is a pioneer in India for manufacturing rice whitening stones and enjoys approximately 50% market share. SAL has a trained dedicated team to provide focussed services for the global market, agro applications and profitable niche industrial applications like special precision grinding wheels. SAL capitalizes on their strength and knowledge by developing new applications in food milling including rice, pulses, wheat against low quality magnesium oxide bond. SAL caters to the need of major industries including auto and auto ancillaries, bearing, spring, knife & cutlery, steel, cutting tool, foundry, glass and surgical blades.

Volzhsky Abrasive Works (VAW)

Single largest producer of SiC in Europe in a single location

PJSC VAW is a Russian subsidiary company of CUMI. Founded in 1961, VAW pioneered production of Silicon Carbide, Vitrified and Resin bonded Abrasives, and Refractories. VAW produces one of the finest quality pure silicon carbide material that goes into the production of Abrasives, Refractories, Metallurgy and Electronics apart from other applications, VAW also exports its silicon carbide to Europe and Asia apart Russia and Belarus. VAW produces Vitrified and Resinoid abrasives which are largely consumed in CIS countries and exported to Eastern Europe while Refractories produced at VAW are used for lining Primary Aluminium smelting furnaces and porcelain kilns while its castables finds its use in Cement and Steel production.
